Les Aidants du Haut-Saint-Laurent offer training that will help you better support your loved one while preserving your energy and health. Topics covered in workshops include daily strategies, energy and motivation, guilt and responsibilities, needs and rights, choices, health protection, changes, family and resources, and more. The organization will be offering in-person or online workshops for parents, siblings, and those caring for people who are under the age of 65 with intellectual or physical disabilities or who are on the autism spectrum. St. Patrick’s is happening early…
In Ormstown on March 15 at GiGzz Music Resto (31A Bridge Street) with Adrien Doucette, Bob Davis, and fiddling great Neil MacKay. The hat will be passed to raise funds for the Ormstown Elementary School Breakfast Fund. Reservations are suggested; call 514-217-1465. St. Patrick’s Musical Afternoon
Celebrate St. Pat’s some more on Sunday, March 16, at 1:30 p.m. with Irish music and fun at the Royal Canadian Legion, 8 Fairview Road, in Huntingdon. Tickets are $10 at the door.
Ateliers Art Hemmingford

UPA first aid training
There will be a first aid training session in the area for English-speaking farmers who need to get or renew their workplace first aid certificate, which is mandatory with the CNESST. The session be held on Wednesday, March 26, and Thursday, March 27, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Ormstown rec centre, 87 Roy Street. Participants must be present for both days of training. Hemmingford Legion chicken BBQ dinner
Mark your calendars for Saturday, March 29, as the Hemmingford Legion will serve another delicious chicken dinner. Reservations only: call Lise Brown at 514-705-2192 by Friday, March 28. The meal includes a large half chicken, baked potato, gravy, coleslaw, dinner roll, and dessert, all for only a $20 donation. Pickup will be from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Legion Hall, 486 Rue Champlain. All are welcome. Also, hot dogs or Michigans are served every Thursday between 5 and 6:30 p.m. “Thank you for supporting our Legion, Veterans, and chicken BBQ dinners.”
Annual firemen’s brunch
The Constable N.Y. volunteer firemen invite all and sundry to their Spring Brunch, happening on Sunday, March 30, from 8 a.m. to noon. Dine in or take out; adults eat for $20 (CDN); kids from age 5 to 12 cost $6, and tykes under 5 eat for free. Credit/debit card, Apple Pay, Cash App, and Android Pay accepted. The meal includes French toast, pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, toast, homefries, coffee, and juice.
Scenes of spring at the Little Green Library
The Little Green Library in Huntingdon is hosting an art exhibition featuring the vibrant and colourful works of local artist Danuta Misztal. The vernissage for the exhibition, entitled Nature in Colour, took place on February 22. The lively paintings will remain on display at the library until April 5.
