Big thanks to blood donors
The third annual blood drive in memory of Mark O’Connor was a great success, with 188 donors showing up, surpassing the set goal of 175. It was noted there were also many first-time donors again this year.
Bottle drive for Heritage
Please bring your cans, bottles, tags and tabs to Heritage Elementary School (21 King Street, Huntingdon) as they are collecting with Genie in a Bottle on Saturday, April 26 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Hemmingford Legion Chicken BBQ Dinner
On Saturday, April 26, the Hemmingford Legion will serve another delicious chicken dinner. Reservations only; call Lise Brown at 514-705-2192 by Friday, April 25. The meal includes a large half-chicken, baked potato, gravy, coleslaw, dinner roll, and dessert, all for only a $20 donation. Pick-up will be from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Legion Hall (486 Rue Champlain). All are welcome.
Hemmingford rabies clinic
In collaboration with the Champlain Veterinary Clinic, a rabies vaccination campaign is being held on Sunday, April 27 at the Champlain Veterinary Clinic in Hemmingford. The cost is $30. Reservations required; call Isabelle Robert at 514-916-6973.
Soothing art at the medical clinic
Paintings by artist Barbara Walter will hang at the Ormstown Medical Clinic (55 Isabelle Street, suite 200) for the next couple of months. Her beautiful work will certainly add to the clinic environment.
Smiles guaranteed
The Smile Cookie campaign at the Huntingdon Tims will once again benefit La Bouffe Additionelle. The campaign runs from April 28 to May 4, and the mission is to help battle food insecurity, so be sure to grab one or a dozen to help reach the campaign goal of $10,000.
Our Veterans’ sacrifice
Hemmingford Legion will hold a VE Day (Victory in Europe) ceremony on Friday, May 8, at 11 a.m. at the cenotaph on Champlain Street. Schoolchildren from Ecole Saint-Romain and Hemmingford Elementary School will be escorted by a piper to the cenotaph. Royal Canadian Hussars (Montreal) soldiers will act as the colour party. Winners of the provincial Legion poetry, essay, and poster contest will be announced afterwards, and all students and citizens are invited to the Legion Hall for refreshments and hot dogs.
Sundry plants and useful finds
The spring flea market and plant sale at the Huntingdon United Church will take place on May 9 from 1 to 5 p.m and on May 10 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

HAECC is holding its second Valley Fest with their annual plant sale, on Saturday, May 10, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 24 York Street, Huntingdon. Vintage car meetups
These gatherings of car buffs are back, every Friday at 6 p.m. starting May 23 in the parking lot of L’amie du Dollar, 2 Henderson Street, in Huntingdon. Show off your car, share your passion, or just check out some vintage beauties.
Rural Youth Gala
The 15th edition of the Rural Youth Gala happens on May 23 at CVR. Young people aged 6 to 24 will be recognized in six categories.
