Smile cookies for La Bouffe
Support La Bouffe Additionelle by pre-ordering your Smile cookies; you could win a $50 IGA gift card, to be drawn on May 3. The official campaign begins on April 27. Order at tinyurl.com/ahvrxf2y. A special event will take place as part of the Smile Cookie campaign on April 18 from noon to 6:30 p.m. at the Barabas brewery in Sainte-Barbe including music, cookie pre-sales, face painting, Timbits and a raffle. The organization will also be collecting bottles and cans on site as a fundraiser.
Exhibition on rural development
On Saturday, April 11, from 1 to 4 p.m. at St. Andrews Hall in Hemmingford, architecture students from McGill will be exhibiting some creative, forward-looking projects on community development. Check out their ideas!
Annual brunch
The Ormstown Lions Club is holding its annual brunch on Sunday, April 12, from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Ormstown rec centre. Those aged 11 and over dine for $25; aged 5-10, $12; and 4 and under are free. A part of the profits will go to S.A.B.E.C.
Brysonville Schoolhouse
The next Brysonville Schoolhouse musical gathering will be held on April 12 from 1 to 4 p.m. at St. James Anglican Church, 19 Church Street, in Ormstown. It is free but donations are accepted. “Bring a song or recitation, or just come and enjoy!”

The CSSVT invites all to its open houses for vocational training at the CFP du Suroît in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield (Pointe-du-Lac Building: 445 Jacques-Cartier Street, April 15 from 5 to 7:30 p.m.) and in Beauharnois (Moissons Building, 260 Gagnon Street, Friday, May 8, from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday, May 9, from 9 a.m. to noon). Exploring the state of the planet
L’Intime et l’Universel is an exhibition by Ormstown artist Suzanne Olivier presented by the MRC at the Alfred-Langevin Cultural Centre in Huntingdon. The vernissage will take place on Sunday, April 19, from 2 to 4 p.m., and the exhibition will run from April 20 to May 17 on Saturdays and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., or by reservation on weekdays.
Spaghetti fundraiser
S.A.B.E.C. invites everyone to its spaghetti fundraiser on Thursday, April 23, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Brasserie du Village (45 Chateauguay Street, Huntingdon). Buy tickets at the venue, or at the S.A.B.E.C. offices (1493 Route 138, Godmanchester).
Heritage bottle drive
The date of the bottle drive for Heritage Elementary is Saturday, April 25, at the Genie in a Bottle depot (822 Route138, Godmanchester). You can also bring wine/beer/alcohol bottles, metal can tabs, plastic bottle caps, and batteries on the day.
