Fishing for youngsters
The Upper St. Lawrence ZIP Committee offers young people a day of introductory fishing lessons on Saturday, June 6, at 9 a.m. at the Îles-de-Saint-Timothée Regional Park. Learn fish habitats, fishing techniques, ethics, and best practices in safety and environmental protection. Each registered young angler will receive a Fishing in the Making certificate, which will serve as their fishing licence until they turn 18. There will be a perennial exchange in Howick on Saturday, June 6, from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Pink School/model school. Bring your bottle or glass for some fresh lemonade!
Neighbourly chicken
The Constable Volunteer Firemen Inc. just over the U.S. border are holding their annual chicken BBQ on Saturday, June 6, at 11:30 a.m. Drive through or dine in for $16 CAD for chicken only, or $21 for a whole meal that includes salt potatoes, pasta salad, beans, a roll, dessert, and water.
Fight ticks
On Saturday, June 13, from 10:30 a.m. until noon in Salle St-Andrew, 480 Rue Frontière, Hemmingford, there will be a public health information session about ticks put on by the Hemmingford Library, the town, and the municipality. Learn how to protect yourself as well as recognize tick bites and what to do about them.
HHW
Collections for hazardous household waste (HHW) are coming up on Saturday, June 13, at the Franklin Ecocentre from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and later this summer on Sunday, August 16, at the Sainte-Barbe Econcentre. Details are available on the MRC’s website.
Cyclothon

Celebrate…
… the Fête Nationale in Ormstown at Lindsay-Cullen Park on June 23! Bring your chairs, wear your best blue-and-white clothes, and enjoy a festive family day. Many activities, food and drink options, and music await. More details can be found on the Ormstown.ca website. In case of torrential rain, the event will be held at the rec centre.
Vintage car lovers
Vintage car meetups are happening in Huntingdon on Friday evenings at 6 p.m. in the parking lot of L’Amie du Dollar and on Henderson Street. Bring your car or just go and admire!
