VE Day
The Hemmingford Legion will hold a Victory in Europe ceremony Friday, May 8, at 11 a.m. at the cenotaph on Champlain Street. All are invited to the Legion Hall for refreshments and hot dogs afterwards.

The spring flea market and plant sale at the Huntingdon United Church will take place on May 9 from 1 to 5 p.m. and on May 10 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. – definitely worth a perusal!

HAECC is holding its second Valley Fest with its annual plant sale, on Saturday, May 10, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 24 York Street, Huntingdon. There will also be community organizations, delicious food, a family corner, centre tours…
Communi-T Night
This next community event is in Huntingdon on Wednesday, May 14, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Heritage Elementary (2 King Street). Have a free spaghetti supper and discover local organizations and health and social service providers. There will be door prizes consisting of family passes to the Ormstown, Huntingdon, and Havelock fairs, as well as gift cards for the Huntingdon Farmers’ Market.
Garage Sale
Need something? They may well have it at the St-Joseph Parish Hall (13 York Street, Huntingdon) on Friday, May 23, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. or Saturday, May 24, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be clothes, dishes, quilts, etc. and the funds will benefit the parish.
Class of ’75 grads
The 50th anniversary party will take place on Saturday, May 24, at CVR, from 3:30 to 9 p.m. Catch up with old friends and enjoy the BBQ. This is a BYOB event, and entry costs $20. Fundraising breakfast
There will be a tasty fundraiser for Hemmingford Elementary and Saint-Romain schools on Sunday, June 8, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Hemmingford Masonic Lodge, 489 Rue Frontière. Tickets cost $15 per adult and $5 per child under 12 and they will be available at the door. For more info, call 514-692-5336.
Rockin’ Ronnie’s car show
The Rockin’ Ronnie family holds car shows at the Sister Trading Post (Highway 138, Kahnawake) on Saturdays from noon until 8 p.m. There is free coffee for car owners, lots of talk about cars, and motors, and more. There is also a swap meet. “Come and see how it is. It’s fun. It’s a day out. Enjoy.”
Mark the dates: HHW collections
Collections of household hazardous waste (HHW) for MRC residents will take place on Saturday, June 14, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Saint-Anicet municipal garage (5001 Route 132), and on Saturday, August 16, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Franklin municipal garage (1570 Route 202). Only household products will be accepted. Any agricultural, industrial, or commercial waste, tires, or medication will be refused. Further info can be found on the MRC website.
