Tractor parade is featured in Dwight Baird original up for draw

The annual Tractor Parade in support of the Betty Riel Foundation left quite an impression on artist and Valley native Dwight Baird when he attended last year’s event.

Baird captured numerous photographs of the tractors as they were driven across the region’s stretch of backroads. Inspired, he returned to his studio and painted an image of the tractors being driven along the 1st Concession in Hinchinbrooke. He titled the work Country Proud.

Baird will be returning to this year’s tractor-themed fundraiser on August 17, which will feature a drawing for the donated painting. All the proceeds from the event including the draw will go to support the essential work of the Betty Riel Foundation, which provides transport to cancer patients in the Haut-Saint-Laurent.

Tickets for the draw for the Dwight Baird original are available now. For more information on the draw or to register a tractor for the event, contact organizers Ken Elder at 450-544-0175, Lorne McNaughton at 450-544-1588, or Denis Faubert at 450-264-2526. (SR)
