The annual ‘Ride for Betty’ tractor parade in support of the Betty Riel Foundation saw a procession of just under 50 tractors take over Valley roads on August 17.
Drivers and their shined-up farm vehicles met at the Huntingdon fairgrounds for the start of the parade at 2 p.m. Participants from the Ormstown and Howick areas met up with the cavalcade en route. “This is absolutely wonderful,” said Betty Riel, who rode along in the lead truck. “You can’t ask for better!” she exclaimed.
This year’s fundraiser included a draw for an original painting by artist Dwight Baird depicting a scene from last year’s parade. The draw took place during the meal following the drive. The winner of the painting was Michael Quesnel. (SR)
