Valleyfield’s Larocque Bridge to close for two months this winter

Following the closure of the Saint-Louis-de-Gonzague Bridge last winter, the Larocque Bridge will be closed to traffic for a period of two months in 2024.

According to a notice issued by the St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation, the bridge, which crosses the Beauharnois Canal in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, will be closed from January 10 to March 17, 2024, to allow for the replacement of counterweight cables.

Traffic during this time will be diverted to the Saint-Louis-de-Gonzague bridge and the Melocheville tunnel.

The management corporation plans to take advantage of the closure of the navigation season to carry out this maintenance work.

The work will also prevent access to the Parc des Bâtisseurs parking lot from December 18 to March 22. It will be used for equipment storage during this time. (SR)
