The Gleaner’s Full Contest Rules
In conjunction with any rules and further conditions provided for particular contests, these are the official Contest Rules. Participation in a contest constitutes your full and unconditional acceptance, and agreement to be legally bound by all contest rules.
- How to enter
- No purchase necessary. In the cases of contests where an entry form is provided in an edition of The Gleaner, contact promotion@the-gleaner.com to request an official entry form.
- Contests begin when published by The Gleaner in print or online, or at the date and time as described in the announcement of a particular contest, and close at the deadline indicated for the particular contest (the “Entry Period”). All times are Eastern Time (ET).
- The submission of any item(s) requested for a particular contest constitutes an “Entry”. Some contests may be limited to one entry per person. All Entries become the property of The Gleaner and will not be returned.
- To enter any contest, follow the instructions provided for the particular contest. All Entries must be submitted no later than the end of the Entry Period.
- Unless indicated, no Entries will be accepted by any other means than those described for each contest.
- Illegible, unintelligible, incomplete, late, or garbled Entries will be disqualified.
- Entries are subject to verification and will be declared invalid if they are illegible, incomplete, mechanically reproduced, mutilated, forged, falsified, altered or tampered with in any way.
- Eligibility
- Contests are open to all residents of Canada, except employees, contractors, and freelancers of The Gleaner, members of the board of directors of Chateauguay Valley Community Information Services (CVCIS), particular Contest partner(s), and any person domiciled with such individuals. Staff and freelancers of The Gleaner, members of the CVCIS Board, and their immediate family members are not eligible for prizes.
- Entrants under the legal age of majority are eligible to participate provided that the name and contact information of the entrant’s parent or legal guardian is submitted with the Entry and that the winning entrant’s parent or legal guardian accepts the prize on his/her behalf.
- A correct answer to a skill-testing question is required to win.
- Entries received online shall be deemed to be submitted by the holder of the email account. In the event of a dispute, the Entry will be deemed submitted by the authorized account holder of the email address, submitted at the time of entry. “Authorized account holder” is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an email address by an Internet access provider, online service provider or other organization that is responsible for assigning email addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address. Selected Entrants may be requested to provide The Gleaner with proof that they are the authorized account holder of an e-mail address associated with the winning Entry.
- Winner selection
- Winners’ names will be published at www.the-gleaner.com/contests within 30 days of the end of the entry period for a contest. By entering a contest, you are giving The Gleaner permission to publish your name in the newspaper and/or online.
- Winners will be selected by random draw, jury, or other means as described in the rules for each particular Contest.
- Selections will be made from among all eligible entries received and will take place on or around the deadline indicated for the Contest.
- If a contest has multiple prizes, each winner will be selected from the eligible entries.
- Where applicable, the first entry drawn is eligible to win the Contest’s Grand Prize. The subsequent entries drawn will win the runner up prizes.
- Only one prize will be awarded per entrant per contest. If more than one entry is drawn from a particular entrant, only the first entry drawn will be awarded a prize. Any subsequent entry drawn for a particular entrant will be disregarded and a new entry will be drawn in its place.
