38th Valley Flower Show celebrates summer, royally

The Ormstown Recreation Center smelled like summer and was buzzing with activity on July 22 during the 38th annual edition of the Valley Flower Show. This year’s theme was “Flowers Fit for Royalty” which was reflected in the 12 display categories that featured names such as “Queen Elizabeth’s Purse” and “Coronation.” Show organizers wearing crowns greeted visitors and served refreshments. The Women’s Auxiliary of the Barrie Memorial had a booth, and there was a secondhand-book table and a raffle table. Judy Doucette of the show’s organizing committee was very pleased. “It [was] better than last year, with 22 new exhibits and lots of fresh faces.”
