Athletes lauded at CVR Sports Awards

On June 4, Chateauguay Valley Regional High School (CVR) celebrated its annual Sports Awards. The evening highlights the achievements of students across the grades, with special attention and major awards given to members of the graduating class.

To begin, the undergrads had a male and female student from each grade receive the Outstanding Athlete award. The winners from Grade 7 were Anthony Roy and Chloe Anderson. From Grade 8, it was Keaton Craig and Addison Wallace. This was followed by the Grade 9 recipients Aiden Bryson and Melanie Natachequan. Finally, the Grade 10 winners were Westley Zawislak and Olivia McColm.

Moving on to the major awards of the evening, the Norm Woods Award for Outstanding Male Athlete was given to Cameron Woods. This year, the Faye Craig Award for Outstanding Female Athlete was awarded to two students: Salomé Lapp and Adriana McKell.

The Desire, Dedication, and Determination Award was presented to Jacob Bryson and Jayden Scarlette. Next, the Roy Younie Award for Sportsmanship was awarded to Colby Renaud and Maurene O’Farrell. The Champ Memorial Award for the student who contributed most to CVR’s athletic program was given to Connor Bryson and Kate Woods.

The final award of the evening was the Tony Evans award, which is organized by the CVR Educational Foundation and is presented to a student recognized for both their academic and athletic success. This year’s winner was Jayden Scarlette.
