It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Stella Rosemary McGowan, on Wednesday September 4th, at the age of 89.
Loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, Stella is survived by her sons Kenny (Debbie) and Gerry (Elise), her daughters Debbie and Brenda (Kevin), her grandchildren Codey, Nicky, Richard, Marc, Tristan, Savannah, Ashleigh, Olivia, Tyler, Kelsey, Sam, Reilly and Dara, as well as by 10 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband Louis, her sons; David (Marie), Donald and Denis (Allyson).
Stella was a very special lady best known for her zest for life and well-manicured appearance. Stella was born in Athelstan, Quebec, and was the fifth child in a family of eight siblings. Stella met the love of her life, Louis Brunette, at a barn dance, and they married shortly afterwards. Together they raised seven children and made their home in Ormstown, Quebec, where they ran a successful Service Station business for over 40 years. Stella and Louis were married for 63 years until Louis passed in August 2022.
Stella loved to be the life of the party and transmitted this enthusiasm to everyone around her. Stella was an incredibly strong woman having suffered more than her share of personal tragedy but still maintained a positive outlook and will to carry on.
What can be said to sum up a life so well lived; we love you Mom and thank you and Dad for making us the people we are today. We owe you everything and are eternally grateful for all you sacrificed to make our lives better.
We would like to acknowledge the excellent care that Stella received at the residence Maison La Source Bleue, at the Barrie Memorial Hospital as well as the CHSLD in Huntingdon. The staff were exceptional, treating Stella, the family and friends with care and kindness, allowing Stella to pass on with dignity. We are grateful for your compassion.
In honour of Stella’s wishes, there will be a private ceremony with only immediate family members.
