Châteauguay Valley Weather May 29-June 3, 2022

May transitioned into June without much fanfare – pretty normal for the time of year.
The average temperature for the first few days was 16.9 degrees Celsius. The warmer temperatures later in the month will quickly move us toward the normal for June of 18.6 degrees celsius.

There was 8 mm of rain, which was a bit lower than normal when extrapolated across the whole month but it’s early days yet.

And the same for corn heat units (CHU), with 82 CHU having been accumulated in the first four days of the month and the normal for the month being 655 CHU. The total for the season now stands at 398 CHU, which is the same as this time last year.

May Summary
The month of May ended up with 112 mm of rain, which is about 30% more than normal, and 100 mm more than we received in May 2021! The average temperature was 15.4 degrees Celsius, a full degree above normal. Surprisingly, May 2022 was the sixth warmest on record over the last 56 years, the result of some above average temperatures during both the day and night during the second week of the month.

Desjardins Expo Ormstown
The forecast for the fair looks reasonable but varies depending on the weather service doing the predicting – none of which have been particularly accurate recently! Daytime temperatures will be moderate in the low twenties, and it will be cloudy with showers at worst and sunny with cloudy periods and a chance of rain on Friday at best. Anyway, rain or shine, come out and enjoy the first Desjardins Expo Ormstown since 2019!
