November started with record warmth (hard to call it heat in November!) but has gradually cooled as the month progressed. The average temperature for the month was 4.6 degrees Celsius, the 7th warmest in 55 years of local record-keeping. The average is down significantly from the 12.5 degrees Celsius after the first week of the month, but still above the normal for the month of 2.9 degrees Celsius.
Snow made an early appearance this year, and stayed on the ground for over a week before the warmer temperatures got the better of it. The one storm was pretty much it for snowfall in November, totalling 10 cm, and melting down to 10 mm of water. Added to the 94 mm of rain, the month’s total precipitation (rain and snow) reached 104 mm, which is about 20% above normal.
December 1-3, 2022
Not a lot to report for the first few days but slightly on the warm side. There was 4 mm of rain and the average temperature was +2.2 degrees Celsius. The normal temperature for the month is -4.5 degrees Celsius so it’s early days yet. The forecast for December is much colder in the second half of the month, with overnight lows around -15 degrees Celsius at the end of the third week.
