Chateauguay Valley weather report March 1-8, 2025

March started off a bit topsy-turvy, starting with some cold and then warm and then cooler again. The good news, particularly for maple syrup producers, is that the remainder of the month is forecast to be slightly warmer than normal.

The first week of the month was, on average, quite a bit colder than normal, registering -3.8 degrees Celsius, mostly due to the overnight low of -25 C on March 3. The normal for the entire month is -1.4 C.

There was almost 8 millimetres of rain and 3 centimetres of snow during the past week, which melted down to just over 3 mm of water. Total precipitation was 11 mm which is about half of normal. The last half of the week witnessed some pretty steady winds with gusts over 60 kilometres per hour at times.
