April continued to be cool through to the middle of the month with an average temperature of +4.8 degrees, down +0.1 degrees from the week before and well below the monthly norm of +6.5 degrees.
The forecast for the rest of the month continues to be cool with daytime highs in the mid-teens and nighttime temperatures dipping down around zero on a frequent basis.
The trend will continue into mid-May with below normal temperatures until well into the month.
There was 18.5 mm of precipitation during the last week, mostly rain with a trace of snow in some locations. The total precipitation for the month-to-date is now 49 mm, which is about normal.
The first tractors could be seen out in the fields this past week, either getting ahead on some soil preparations or actually seeding down some cereal grains.
