April continued as it started, on the cool side. The average temperature was +4.4 degrees Celsius, down a notch from the week before (+4.8 degrees) and well below the normal of +6.5 degrees.
Fortunately, the coolness has been accompanied by a relatively dry spell, with only 3.6 mm of precipitation in the last week, which brings the month to date total to 52.6 mm. Normal would be in the 65-70 mm range at this stage of the month.
Lots of wind, almost day in and day out, has helped to dry out the land and farmers could be seen throughout the Valley carrying out soil preparation and seeding crops.
