Five Valley athletes took to the pitch as members of Team Quebec during Field Hockey Canada’s U16 National Championships earlier this month.
Avery Krause, Audrey Rennie, Kali Aiken, Hailey Craig, and Kristen Anderson travelled to Calgary, Alberta, to participate in the tournament which took place from August 7 to 11.
The five teammates play together at Chateauguay Valley Regional High School. Along with players from across the province, the Quebec team faced off against teams from Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Alberta, and two teams from British Columbia.
“The field hockey competition was so strong,” says parent Ruth Grant, who accompanied the local girls during their experience.
“The girls from CVR literally have no quit. They pushed and gave it their all,” adds Grant, who was impressed by the team’s effort over the course of the tournament. (SR)
