On September 20, some 40 participants visited the biodiversity facilities of three local farms. Organized by ALUS Montérégie, the day demonstrated the benefits of biodiversity in the agricultural environment for participants, including producers, agronomists, students, citizens, and politicians. The three farms – Les Jardins Glenelm (pictured above), Erskine Farms, and Ferme Ajiro (1989) Inc. – have all implemented landscaping on their land to solve challenges impacting their production, such as frequent flooding, soil erosion, reducing insect pest pressure, improving crop pollination, and reducing the risks associated with pesticide use. The presentations demonstrated real, quantifiable results, while also reviewing the programs and resources available through MAPAQ, ALUS Montérégie, and the private sector to support interested growers.
