Fatal accident in Saint-Anicet

(Updated) A 38-year-old motorist was killed in an accident Thursday morning in Saint-Anicet.

For an unknown reason, the driver of the vehicle left the road before ending up in the ditch along Ridge Road. At approximately 5:00 a.m., emergency services were called to respond. The Jaws of Life were required to remove the driver from the vehicle.

The woman was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead. According to a spokesperson for the Sureté du Québec, the victim has been identified as Deanna Leblanc, of Saint-Anicet.

A collision-investigation officer was dispatched to the scene; however, the cause of the accident is still under investigation. The speed limit in this area is 80 km/h. (SR and Eric Tremblay – Le Journal Saint-François)
