Fatal accident in Saint-Anicet

A 71-year-old man lost his life Monday afternoon after being struck by a 10-wheeler heavy truck on Route 132 in Saint-Anicet.

Viva Média reports that the man was crossing the highway on foot near the Saint-Anicet Golf Club around 1:15 p.m. while the truck was being driven westward on Route 132.

The victim, a 71-year-old man from Montreal, was taken by ambulance to the Suroît Hospital in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the truck also suffered minor injuries.

Reconstructionists from the Sûreté du Québec were dispatched to the scene to determine the cause of the accident.
