Ten organizations working with seniors in the Beauharnois-Salaberry-Soulanges-Huntingdon (BSSH) riding will share in a total investment of $202,743 through the federal New Horizons for Seniors program.
The investments will support local initiatives aimed at improving seniors’ quality of life, while promoting active participation in their communities and combating social isolation.
“Our seniors have helped build the strong, supportive communities we know today. It is essential to continue investing in projects that promote their well-being, social participation, and safety. I am extremely proud to see so many organizations in our region coming together to provide dynamic and inclusive living environments for our seniors,” said BSSH MP Claude DeBellefeuille.
Among the organizations to receive funding, the Ormstown FADOQ Club was granted $11,748 to improve its physical activity facilities, while the Cardio-Actifs du Haut-Saint-Laurent gym in Huntingdon was awarded $11,950 for the purchase of adapted exercise equipment.
The municipality of Saint-Louis-de-Gonzague will benefit from a $25,000 investment for the installation of equipment to create a community kitchen where social activities and midweek gatherings can take place.
The Ormstown-based Art’bre des Générations organization will also receive $23,350 to develop activities centered on textiles and intergenerational sharing.
Projects were also accepted in the municipality of Saint-Justine-de-Newton, Coteau-du-Lac, Saint-Télesphore, Rivière-Beaudette, Saint-Polycarpe, and Beauharnois.
“These investments will enable hundreds of seniors to stay active, build connections, and fully participate in the life of their community. This is excellent news for our entire riding,” said DeBellefeuille, who recognized the important contribution of the many volunteers, organizations, and municipalities that have worked to implement these transformative projects.
