The elves at the Livestock Breeders Association of the District of Beauharnois are busily checking lightbulbs and testing the garlands as they begin the annual task of transforming the Ormstown fairgrounds into a magical Christmas Village. Taking place over two weekends this year, this winter wonderland will be accessible from 6 to 9 p.m. on December 1-2, and again on December 8-9.
“We wanted to give back to the community,” explains LBA manager Sue Morison. “It is free for anyone who wants to come in and walk around,” she adds, noting there will be a public market, hot drinks, and lots of treats. Kids will be able to meet Santa and mail their letters. Mrs. Claus will also be there, along with the LBA’s court of winter princesses and even Olaf the snowman. Morison admits there is a risk the Grinch may also be lurking around the village. (SR)
