NOTICE: The Annual Meeting of the Shareholders of the Quebec Frontier Railway Company, for general business and the Election of Directors, will be held in the County Building, in the village of Huntingdon, on Thursday, the Eleventh day of February next, at the hour of eleven o’clock in the forenoon.

ALLAN’S CORNERS: Mr. A. Thomson competed at the Montreal poultry show, held Jan’y 17-22, and also at Ottawa, held Jan’y 23-26, and at both fully maintained the high reputation he has obtained as the leading breeder of poultry in the province. At Montreal he carried off 58 first prizes, 31 seconds, and 11 thirds. At Ottawa he was awarded 26 firsts, 19 seconds, and 1 third. In many of the leading classes, especially turkeys, he swept all before him.
VALLEYFIELD: Our Scotch friends held a meeting Friday evening at the Larocque house and formed a club for the practice of the “roaring game.” … The “stanes” are expected in a day or two and the club will immediately start to “soop her up,” and a bonspiel will be arranged to be played in a short time. Tam O’Shanters have gone up 25 per cent, and the man that can speak broad Scotch is the lion of the hour.

HUNTINGDON: … A skating rink is badly needed in this County and Old Home Week is an event which would not only help to support it but would give Huntingdon a boost in the esteem of all who follow its activities. Citizens can show their community spirit and prove that they have some concern for the welfare of Huntingdon County by attending the meeting Friday night.

ORMSTOWN PARENTS WIN CROSSING GUARDS: Parents of Ormstown Elementary School children were jubilant this week, having won the “battle of the crossing guards” at the monthly meeting of Ormstown Council held Feb. 3. … As of Tuesday the two crossing guards will be town employees wearing ex-police uniforms. At a later date they may be replaced by people specially hired for this purpose.
