Under the charge of Dr. Marriott, who is in charge of the campaign, the Veterinaries sent by the Health of Animals Branch, Ottawa, started testing the cattle to-day. The first herds are in Dundee. Sweeping eastwardly on a wide front the officials will go from stable to stable until every stable has been tested and a clean bill of health given to every farmer, that every animal he owns and every animal his neighbours own, are free from bovine tuberculosis. The dream of the dairymen who have worked for a restricted area consisting of three counties is thus taking actual form.

PROTESTANT SCHOOL BOARDS will protest Bill 22: Quebec’s protestant school boards, including that of the Chateauguay Valley, will challenge Bill 22 in Superior Court during the next two months. … The protest against the Bill will be on constitutional grounds, based on the claim that the Quebec government exceeded its authority as defined by Article 93 of the British North America Act. The Bill, passed in July, requires immigrant children who speak neither English nor French to attend French schools, and may prevent the expansion of English-speaking schools across the province unless authorized by the education minister. The decision to take the Quebec Government to court over the controversial bill was taken at the annual convention of the Quebec Association of Protestant School Boards held on Oct. 19 in Montreal. The delegates voted 18-4 with four abstentions in favour of filing the suit after a marathon four-hour debate. All 33 member boards will act as plaintiff in one or more suits.
