Godmanchester resident Laurent Legault recently celebrated his 104th birthday, with a celebration featuring all of his neighbours. His friends Jimmy and Beverley Watson hosted the party in honour of this incredible milestone. Legault’s daughter, Diane André Legault, shares that his secret to a long life is that “He says he always worked. He never stopped, and even now he is still always doing something. He always has to be busy.”
Legault still lives in his own house, where he still does all his own housework. He spent years working as a mechanic in a garage, and he continues to work on his car and on other peoples’ cars as well.
Diane shares that her father is a really special man. “He helps everyone and he’s open to everyone. He talks to everyone, he’s really social,” she says. He even saved the life of a neighbour once, when he heard someone down the street from his house calling for help; without his intervention, the neighbour would have died.
Currently, Legault is still in good health and still has a great memory. He’s still keeping busy and enjoying life.
