Group exhibition and photography contest

The MRC du Haut-Saint-Laurent is inviting artists of all disciplines to participate in its annual group exhibition. The theme for this year’s show, which will be mounted at the Alfred Langevin Cultural Hall (SCAL), is “Chaos.”

Artists residing in the Haut-Saint-Laurent may bring their work, which must respect the theme and be ready to install, on September 19 or 20 to the SCAL between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. The vernissage for the exhibition will take place on September 30, from 5 to 7 p.m. The show will be open to view on weekends throughout the month of October, excluding Thanksgiving, and during the week by reservation.

Calling all photographers

Submissions are now being accepted for the annual photography contest and exhibition organized by the MRC du Haut-Saint-Laurent, in collaboration with the Caisse Desjardins du Haut-Saint-Laurent and the Galeries Ormstown. Amateur and professional photographers from the area are invited to send their best shots to the MRC by September 19 in one of two categories: youth (17 and under) and adult (18 years and older). Participants could win one of four cash prizes in each category.

The contest/exhibition is also taking place under the theme of “Chaos” as part of the annual Culture Days celebration of the local arts and culture scene. The exhibition will take place from October 1 to 16 at the Galeries Ormstown.

A panel of judges will select the first-, second- and third-place photographs in each category, while visitors to the exhibition on October 1 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. will be able to determine the winner of the public’s choice award.

Full details for the contest and exhibition are available online at mrchsl.com. Questions can be directed to Nancy Brunelle, the MRC’s cultural development agent, at 450 264-5411, ext. 238 or by email at nancy.brunelle@mrchsl.com. (SR)
