Huntingdon Academy alumni celebrate 75-year reunion

PHOTO Gail Elliott

June is graduation season. Regardless of age, the anticipation of gathering with fellow classmates was in the air on June 10, as four members of the Huntingdon Academy Class of 1947 met for lunch at the Citron & Basilic Restaurant in Huntingdon for a 75-year reunion. Graduate Jimmy Smythe organized the event, which was also attended by classmates Edna Rankin, Bernice Robson, and Jim Robb. A special guest for the event and representative for the New Frontiers School Board was Derek Stacey, the centre director for the Huntingdon Adult Education and Community Centre as well as the Chateauguay Valley Career Education Centre in Ormstown. The guests chatted amongst themselves, sharing stories and memories of other students, teachers, and administrators, before posing for a photograph.
