Letter to the Editor

To everyone out there who has been able to buy groceries in the past few weeks, please think of the truck drivers who are working hard through this global crisis to ensure that the stores can stay stocked. With the current restrictions, while they are on the road, they often cannot even use a real bathroom, but are limited to Porta-potties, and cannot have a hot meal because many of the roadside restaurants’ dining rooms are closed and drive-through windows are not designed for semi-trucks. They don’t have access to the basic essentials right now but they are working tirelessly to make sure we all eat and receive medical supplies.
Once this pandemic is over, I would urge you to remember it was the trucks and their drivers that helped us to get through it and that they need respect on the roads. Stop cutting them off, give them room, and respect who they are and what they do for our economy.
