Man arrested in stabbing death of 34-year-old woman

A 60-year-old man was arrested on May 15 after Sûreté du Québec (SQ) officers discovered
a woman’s body with stab wounds in a home in Ormstown.

According to the Journal de Montréal, a 911 call was received at 10:30 a.m. regarding an
altercation between two people at a home on Cairns Street.

The officers responding to the call found the woman’s body. The 34-year-old woman was
pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect was taken to hospital with minor injuries before being questioned by
investigators later in the day.

The SQ confirmed that the man and woman knew each other, but would not say anything
more. The Journal de Montréal is reporting that the suspect is the woman’s father.

The man is scheduled to appear at the Salaberry-de-Valleyfield courthouse on May 16 to
face charges of non premeditated or second degree murder.

Officers from the SQ’s major crime unit, as well as crime scene investigators, canvassed the
scene during the day, looking for evidence and more information concerning the
circumstances of the woman’s death.
