The New Frontiers School Board (NFSB) has announced that a replacement principal has been found to fill the position at Chateauguay Valley Regional High School (CVR). The post was left vacant following the transfer of Anick Leclerc to Gault Institute elementary school after March break.
A former CVR principal, Gary Tennant, will return to the Ormstown-based high school as the interim replacement principal from March 13 to June 30. Tennant most recently served as principal at Centennial Park School and at Howard S. Billings in Chateauguay.
The NFSB assistant director general, Michael Helm, says the decision to hire Tennant ensures continuity at CVR during this transition period. “He is someone who knows the culture. He knows the school,” he says, noting this affords the board some stability as they search for the right person to take on the job.
Helm says the board is looking to fill a long-term placement, suggesting the decision to hire an interim principal was strategic in that it allows those who are interested, but reluctant to leave a position mid year, the opportunity to apply. “CVR will be one of the first to be assigned,” he says, suggesting that administrative positions at the elementary level will be posted following this decision. “Ultimately, all of the positions will be filled by the month of June so everyone can start by July 1.”
