The Gleaner sent the same series of questions to all the candidates representing Quebec’s major political parties in the Huntingdon riding. As of press time, we had not received responses from those running for the Parti Québecois or Quebec Solidaire.
Parti Québécois candidate Frédéric Laplante is a high school French teacher with ties to the Napierville region. According to the party’s website, academic success, promoting the French language, food sovereignty, and protecting the province’s small and medium-sized businesses are the issues that matter most to Laplante.

Québec Solidaire has confirmed that Valérie Dubois will run in the riding. Her nomination was announced on September 17, which was the deadline for filing nomination papers in the riding.
Advance voting is scheduled to take place on September 27 and 28 at polling stations across the region, while the general election will be decided on October 5. (SR)
