The Fédération de l’UPA de la Montérégie is up for one of four province-wide Union Awards. The cohabitation campaign, Notre campagne, un milieu de vie à partager, has been nominated for the Laurent-Barré Valorisation Award, which is named after the former agriculture minister. The award recognizes inspiring initiatives that promote farming, agriculture, and private forestry.
The regional federation submitted its cohabitation campaign for nomination as the project involved a collaboration with all 13 MRCs in the Montérégie as well as the agglomeration of Longeuil. Important links were also made throughout the duration of the project, which aimed to raise awareness of farming practices and to break down barriers between farmers and the general population. The winners will be announced during the UPA’s annual Farm and Forestry Gala, which will take place on December 1. (SR)
