Members of the committee behind the annual ‘Ride for Betty’ tractor parade recently met with the founder and namesake of the Betty Riel Foundation to present the organization with a generous cheque for $8,950.
Around 50 farmers took part in this year’s parade, which started and ended at the Huntingdon fairgrounds. The proceeds from the event totalled $6,890, while the draw for a painting donated by artist Dwight Baird raised an additional $2,060.
The funds will be used by the Betty Riel Foundation to continue to offer free transportation to medical appointments for Haut-Saint-Laurent residents battling cancer. (SR)
