SHERRY, Dorothy (Dot) Louise

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Dorothy (Dot) Louise Sherry on September 1, 2023 in her 80th year. Beloved mother to Tim (Liana) Newby and Sherry (Kevin) Bodden. Outstanding Grandmother to Brooke, Bre-Anne, Joshua, Kaitlyn and Mariah.  Dear daughter to the late Leslie and Elsie (McLean) Sherry.  Sister (Sissy) to brothers Bob (late Anne), Reg, Jack (late Mariyln) and Gord (Judy). Dorothy was admired by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Throughout her life, Dorothy also remained very close to her many cousins and the void she leaves will be immense in all of our lives. She will be missed more than words can express by her family and many friends.

Dorothy was born and raised in the Valleyfield, Quebec area on a dairy farm before moving to NYC where she became a flight attendant for Mohawk air.  She then moved to Florida as a young woman to get married and to start a family. Her love of the beach remained,  even after she returned to Canada with the kids to be closer to her family and friends. She continued to spend many vacations at her happy place in Englewood.

Dorothy enjoyed a successful career in real estate for 40 years and loved it so much that she didn’t retire until she was 75!  She took great pride in volunteering for several organizations as well as giving of her time to anyone who needed it. In her free time, she was certainly known for her pie making abilities and hosting large family gatherings over the years. These gatherings will be missed by all.

Although it is never easy to say goodbye to our loved ones, we find great peace knowing that she went peacefully with her family at her side. A special thank you to the paramedics, nurses and doctors that did everything they could at the General.

Cremation has taken place and she will join her parents at Chapel Hill memorial gardens with immediate family present.

Friends are welcome to join us anytime between 10 am to 2 pm for a celebration of life on Friday September 15, 2023 at 16 Concord Place, Grimsby.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to The Coping Centre, Heart and stroke foundation or charity of your choice.
