This was the last day of school for these children at the one-room schoolhouse in Riverfield in June of 1929. The teacher in the picture was Hazel Robertson, and in the background was the Templeton car. Consolidation of most schools had taken place; children were thereafter bused to central schools – in this case, to Howick.
This schoolhouse was moved across the frozen river and closer to Howick village to become the Peddie home on the English River Road. Do you recognize any of the students?
