The annual gathering, now running for 105 years and originally called the “Farmers Picnic”, is an informal event for families in the Ormstown-Howick area with hotdogs served by the Boy Scouts and ice cream by 4H. Held at Greig’s Grove, a couple of fields interspersed amongst the maple trees along Rang du 4, the site plays host to hayfield baseball, kids races – three-legged, wheelbarrow and potato sack contest – all topped off by a tug-of-war which saw the women out pull the men in decisive fashion!
