The Scouts are prepared…

… to fulfill your evergreen needs! The 1st Huntingdon Scouts are holding a sale of Christmas wreaths and trees including Balsam firs and already-decorated wreaths. A six-foot fir sells for $60; a seven-footer, $70. Decorated wreaths are priced at $36 for a medium-sized one and $65 for a large one. All proceeds go to support Scouting activities. Dwight Baird painting raffle

The drawing for the Dwight Baird painting, kindly donated to the Little Green Library by the internationally renowned artist, will take place on December 14. Raffle tickets are available at the library (4 Lorne Street, Huntingdon).

Load up on books

The Hemmingford Library (552 Goyette Street) will be closed for the holidays as of 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 16. It will reopen on January 6 at 10 a.m. Sign out your holiday reading material now!

Farmer’s Market

The Huntingdon County Farmers’ Market will host a Christmas market in Saint-Anicet on December 17, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the community centre (1560 Saint-anicet Street). Check it out and stock up on 100-per cent local and fresh products for the festive season.

A day of Christmas magic

Also in Saint-Anicet on December 17 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. – at the community centre, the Historical Society, and along Saint-Anicet Street – there will be a variety of entertainers as well as calèche rides, food vendors, food trucks, and confections. Santa will be present from 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. and he ho-ho-hopes to see you there.

HAECC Open House

On December 18, the Huntingdon Adult Education and Community Centre will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., offering a plant sale in the greenhouse, the To.Us Boutique, and a computer-recycling collection day.

You can win a $30 gift certificate for the plant sale or a $30 gift card for Boutique To.Us! Enter by “liking” the HAECC Facebook page, and “like” and share the poster picture. Two winners will be announced on the Facebook page Friday, December 15.

Don`t miss the CVR Winter Gala

The performing arts department at Chateauguay Valley Regional High School presents its Winter Gala on Tuesday, December 19, at 8 p.m. Tickets will be available at the door (1597 Route 138A, Ormstown) for $10. Seasonal joy awaits!

Saint-Antoine-Abbé concert

The Choeur en Fugue will be performing a Christmas concert in the Saint-Antoine-Abbé church (2514 Route 209) on Friday, December 22 at 8 p.m. The event is free for Franklin residents, $10 non-residents. There is limited seating, so please get your tickets in advance at the town hall.

Roll up your sleeves

There will be a blood drive at the Hemmingford recreation centre (550 Goyette Street) on Thursday, January 4 from 1:30 to 7:30 p.m. Please make an appointment with Hema-quebec.qc.ca or call 1-800-343-7264 and give the gift of blood.
