St. Andrew’s garage sale
All are welcome to visit the garage sale at St. Andrew’s church (33 Prince Street in Huntingdon) on Saturday, Nov.16 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be new, and almost new, household items, plus many Christmas decorations like artificial trees and ornaments. The organizers look forward to seeing you!
Learn to do lino!
A linocut printmaking course is being offered by Evelyne Bouchard on Sunday, November 17, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. No experience is necessary. The cost is $60 plus $20 for materials; register at ateliersarthemmingford.ca/en/linocut-printing.
Une Histoire Enivrante (1920-1933)
La Comite Historique de Dundee invites all to a presentation and discussion about prohibition and the Quebec/New York border, , on Thursday, November 21, at 7:30 p.m. at the city hall (3296 Smallman, Dundee). The speaker, Robert Payant, was born at the border and was the son of a border guard; the talk will touch on the world of bootleggers, speakeasies, moonshiners, and such. All are welcome and the event is free to attend.
Calling all crafters!
There is a Quilts of Valour sewing day planned for November 28 at the Legion in Huntingdon. The objective of the day is to make a pile of quilts to present to Veterans. Needles engage at 9 a.m. and go until 4 p.m. Sewers, pinners, pressers, trimmers, and hand-sewers will be needed, as well as volunteers to handle snacks. A lunch of soup and rolls will be served. Hemmingford Legion chicken BBQ dinner
Mark your calendars for Saturday, November 30, as the Hemmingford Legion is serving another delicious chicken dinner! Reservations only; call Lise Brown at 514- 705-2192 by Friday, November 29. The meal consists of a large half chicken, baked potato, gravy, coleslaw, dinner roll, and dessert – all for only a $20 donation. Pick up will be from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Legion Hall at 486 Rue Champlain. Also, hot dogs or Michigans are served every Thursday between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. Thank you for supporting the Legion.
Rudolph Run
The 15th annual Rudolph Fun Run/Walk is on Saturday November 30, at the Ormstown rec centre (87 Rue Roy). Proceeds go to the Christmas baskets at La Bouffe Additionnelle. The race runs from 9 to 11 a.m., with refreshments afterwards. A minimum donation of $5 per adult can be made on the day or by e-transfer to labouffeadditionnelle.com (click on Rudolph).
Mark your calendars…
… for some Christmas concerts coming up! First, Noel en Musique takes place on December 14 at Eglise Saint-Chrysostome. Doors open at 6 p.m. and admission is free for choral singing, and then music by folk musicians Les Vieux Bruyants. Then, Chœur en Fugue comes back on December 20 at the Lac des Pins Campground stable (2155 Grimshaw Road). Tickets are free for Franklin residents, and non-residents are welcome at a cost of $10 per adult and free for children.
