An Ormstown resident lost her life in a tragic accident involving an automobile on Monday afternoon.
Officers from the Sûreté du Québec’s Haut-Saint-Laurent station were called to the scene at around 12:45 p.m. Upon arriving, they found the victim, a 66-year old woman, trapped under a car in a private driveway located on Route 138A in Ormstown.
According to a communications agent with the Sûreté du Québec, officers at the scene noted the woman did not appear to have been driving the vehicle when the incident occurred and that a sudden or unplanned movement of the vehicle could be the cause of this sad event.
The woman was transported to a hospital where she was pronounced dead. The SQ has not released the name of the victim at this time.
A collision reconstructionist and investigators were on scene during the afternoon to determine the possible causes and circumstances of the accident.
