The New Frontiers School Board (NFSB) will host the third edition of its annual community-centred event known as Valleyfest on May 9, at the Huntingdon Adult Education and Community Centre (HAECC).
The event, which is structured around the horticulture program’s long-standing plant sale, aims to showcase the different vocational programs available at HAECC and the Chateauguay Valley Career Education Centre.
New this year are two one-hour workshops run by the carpentry and the health, assistance and nursing programs that are open to the community. The health session will start at 9:30 a.m. and will include information on the use and administration of an EpiPen, Naloxone (Narcan), an automated external defibrillator (AED), and LifeVac choking rescue devices.
The carpentry session will follow at 10:30 a.m. and will include a hands-on introduction to the program where visitors can explore the basic skills, tools, and techniques of the trade. Registration for both workshops is highly recommended and can be done online at nfsb.me/valleyfest.
The plant sale will once again feature a wide variety of plants, including annuals and seasonal flowers, perennials, edible plants such as vegetables, fruits and herbs, as well as medicinal varieties.
The Boutique To-Us as well as the café will be open, and there will other kiosks with vendors, and as a kids’ play zone animated by the Centre des Ressources Familiales. (SR)
