Franklin resident Kenneth Marlin, who was convicted of committing sex crimes against five victims earlier this year, could now face a civil suit for nearly $1 million following a lawsuit filed in Superior Court by one of his victims.
The 65-year-old was arrested three years ago on 15 counts of sexual offences against minors, all of which took place in the 1980s and early 1990s on a farm in Hemmingford.
According to the Journal de Montreal, a civil suit has been launched by a man, now 49 years old, who was abused by Marlin in the 1980s when he was eight years old. The suit alleges Marlin had gained the trust of the boy’s parents while he was abusing him and his brother during tractor rides.
Although Marlin’s sentencing hearing is set to take place in September, the victim decided his abuser “should not just pay with his freedom, but also out of his pocket for destroying his life.”
The Superior Court is expected to decide within weeks whether it will hear the case. (SR)
