1933–2022
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Louis Elmer Brunette, on Friday, August 26, 2022, at the age of 89.
Loving husband, father and grandfather, Louis is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Stella McGowan; by his children: Kenny (Debbie), Gerry (Elise), Debbie, Brenda (Kevin); his grandchildren: Codey, Nicky, Richard, Marc, Tristan, Savannah, Ashleigh, Olivia, Tyler, Kelsey, Sam, Reilly and Dara; his great-grandchildren. Also survived by his sister Dorthy, Louis was predeceased by his sons David (Marie), Donald and Denis (Allyson).
Louis, best known as the proprietor of the Ormstown Texaco Service Station, where he served the community for more than 40 years, providing service with honesty, integrity, and a work ethic beyond compare. Serving the community was one of his great passions in life, but his greatest source of pride was his family. He will be remembered as a generous man, always ready to help someone in need. Louis was very proud of his legacy, passing his business to his son Kenny, which will soon be operated by a third generation of the Brunette family.
To honor Louis’ wishes, a private ceremony will be held with only immediate family members.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorial contributions be made to the Barrie Memorial Hospital Foundation. They would also like to acknowledge the excellent care that Louis received at the Barrie Memorial Hospital. The staff were exceptional, treating him in a very caring manner, allowing him to pass on with dignity: “We will be forever grateful”.
