1940–2022
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret Robertson (née Brown) on August 26, 2022, at the age of 82.
She was the daughter of John A. Brown, a World War I veteran, and Ethel Napper. She leaves to mourn her adoring husband of 57 years, Elton Robertson, her son Dean, her daughter Beth (Frédéric) and her two loving grandchildren, Nicolas and Zoë. She also leaves to mourn her sisters; Florence, twin sister Marjorie, Sylvia and Heather and her brother Brian, as well as the members of the McNaughton family. She is predeceased by siblings Alice, Ruby, Edwin, Dorothy, Howard, Hazel, Albert, Eileen, Irma, Kenneth and Eleanor.
Margaret was a pillar of the community and the “Queen of Kindness”. She helped with fundraising for the Women’s Auxiliary of the Barrie Memorial Hospital, she was a member of the Riverfield Women’s Institute, volunteered in a senior’s residence and with the Hemmingford Terry Fox run. The Riverfield Presbyterian Church, the Howick craft fair and the Riverfield curling club were close to her heart. She was an amazing baker and was notorious for her beautiful smocked dresses.
Nothing made Margaret happier than helping those in need and spending quality time with her grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Barrie Memorial Hospital for their professionalism and compassion. Visitation will take place at the McGerrigle Funeral home in Ormstown, Québec on September 23rd from 7:00-9:00 p.m. The funeral will take place at the Georgetown Presbyterian Church in Howick, Québec at 2:00 p.m. on September 24th. To accommodate those who were closest to Margaret and those living further away, the funeral will be broadcast via Zoom using the following link:
