Residents of Hemmingford Township will be called to the polls for a byelection come June.
During the regular municipal council meeting on April 8, Hemmingford Township mayor Lucien Bouchard tabled the resignation of councillor number three, Maude St-Hilaire.
A notice declaring the post to be vacant was posted the following day by returning officer Sylvie Dubuc. As the resignation occurred more than one year before the next general election is expected to be called, a byelection to fill the vacant seat will take place.
The nomination period for residents interested in presenting their candidacy will run from April 19 to May 3.
If more than one person steps forward, a byelection will be held. Advance polling will take place on Sunday, May 26 from noon to 8 p.m. The vote will take place on Sunday, June 2, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. (SR)
