The MRC du Haut-Saint-Laurent is once again participating in the Sûreté du Québec’s cadet program this summer. As part of this initiative, two cadets will be deployed to the region until September 30. They will be particularly present at public events taking place through the region.
The cadets will focus on prevention and providing information to the public. They will work directly in the field to raise awareness about various public safety issues and to promote best practices.
The cadet program allows students and recent graduates of police technology programs to develop their skills while contributing to community safety. Cadets receive specialized training and on-the-job supervision, which allows them to assist patrol officers with surveillance and prevention tasks.
The cadets are also expected to build ties within the community by answering citizens’ questions regarding safety and regulations. The MRC is encouraging citizens to take advantage of this opportunity to interact with the cadets and benefit from their presence over the summer. (SR)
