The average temperature for March so far is +2.2 degrees above normal, sitting at +0.8 degrees versus the normal of -1.4 degrees.
No surprise there given that the day time high on Friday was +18.0 degrees, although somewhat of a surprise that no records were set. That was done in 2012 when the daytime high topped 27 degrees! And to show you what kind of a crazy country we live in, the recent record for a nighttime low was -19.3 degrees set in 2007.
Anyway, life goes on even in this extraordinary situation resulting from the COVID19 pandemic. The precipitation for the past week fell entirely as 17 mm of rain, bringing the month-to-date total to 48 mm, which is pretty much normal.
There hasn’t been any snow on the ground (in Ormstown) since March 12th; geese are back in abundance and robins, blackbirds and cardinals have all been sighted in the area. Spring is about to sprung!
The forecast for April is close to normal with daytime highs moving up to the mid-teens by the end of the month. The second half of the month is also predicted to be wet with cloudy skies and frequent showers.
Stay safe, stay home!
