Alexandre Daneau, the Parti Québécois candidate in the Beauharnois riding, officially launched his campaign on September 3 in the company of 200 party supporters in Valleyfield.
Daneau said he hopes the campaign will focus on ideas, listening, and respect. “The decline of French, homelessness, the cost of living, and the challenges facing our public services are very real problems. We can point them out, but above all, we must propose solutions. Attacks, fear, and misinformation are just noise. Ideas and political action, on the other hand, can make a difference,” he explained.
Daneau acknowledged the race in Beauharnois will be close. He highlighted party proposals to reduce tax rates for small and medium-sized businesses by 20 per cent, to undertake a major initiative in education, and to abolish the QST on used goods as concrete ideas that will help Quebecers.
The Parti Québécois has also named Frédéric Laplante as the candidate in the Huntingdon riding.

As a high school French teacher, Laplante understands the realities of the education system and the region’s youth.
“I know Napierville like the back of my hand,” he said, noting his family has lived in the area for several generations. He identified academic success, promoting the French language, food sovereignty, and protecting the region’s small and medium-sized business as important issues for this campaign. (SR)
