Fans of the western historical drama Little House on the Prairie will want to note April 7 on their calendars.
In partnership with the MRC du Haut-Saint-Laurent, Saint-Anicet-born artist Marc Walsh will unveil his homage to the beloved television series, entitled Joyeux 50e anniversaire à La petite maison dans la prairie, as part of an exhibition of miniature scale models on display at the Alfred-Langevin Cultural Hall in Huntingdon.
A fan of the now cult classic, which ran on the NBC network between 1974 and 1983, Walsh was inspired to pay tribute to the series based on the works of author Laura Ingalls Wilder. He devoted thousands of hours to painstakingly recreate the buildings in the village of “Walnut Grove” and scenes from the Ingalls farm. The models capture the essence of this era, offering viewers an immersive experience of the series’ captivating universe and picturesque settings.
Walsh invites visitors to rediscover the legacy of Little House on the Prairie. The exhibition plays on nostalgia and strives to go beyond the simple presentation of detailed models to embody the family values that captivated generations of television viewers.
The artist will be present for the vernissage on April 7 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the hall located in the Chateau building. The exhibition runs until May 12. The gallery is open on weekends from 1 to 4 p.m., and during the week by appointment. (SR)
