Fall vote is in store for Havelock

Residents of Havelock will be heading to the polls once again this fall.

Following the sudden resignation of former mayor Gerald Beaudoin and councillor number six, Christopher Sherrington, the municipality will hold its second byelection since the 2021 general municipal election.

In her capacity as returning officer, Havelock director general Mylène Vincent informed the council during the July 2 regular meeting that a public notice of election will be announced on or before August 23.

The nomination period for residents interested in presenting their candidacy will run from August 23 to September 6. If more than one candidate steps forward for either the position of mayor or councillor, a byelection will take place on October 6, 2024. (SR)
